Soffit and Fascia...check!

While the drywall subs finish up the texture on our walls, we've been working on the soffit and fascia, which covers the eaves of the house.

For this house, the soffit and fascia are made of aluminum which is powder-coated white.  Mr. Pickup was able to borrow a friend's back hoe, which made reaching all those eaves much easier than climbing up and down ladders.

The kids would take turns with their Dad in the bucket, handing him tools and supplies.  The soffit is held in place by a "J" shaped metal channel which is stapled to the edge of the house an eave.  The soffit is cut to length (scary!), and the slides into the channel and is stapled on the outer edge.

Once the soffit is all installed, the fascia is placed over the soffit and under the white drip edge under the shingles.  This is held into place by white screws.

Big Brother was in heaven running the loader.

By the end of the first full day, our house looked like this.

We had to wait on those corners and the porch to be custom wrapped with larger sheets of metal by our contractor's son.

Working evenings and most of last Friday, we were able to finish up the rest of the house.  And even I operated that loader!

I was a nervous wreck with Mr. Pickup perched in the bucket reaching the top of our west gable, but all is well.

Here is the front porch, all that's left is to do is add the trims for the can lights.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  White is bright, timeless...and always in stock!  (As opposed to the siding which I had to special order.)

The weather has been unseasonably warm here the past few days, but the fields around us are liking the heat and greening up quickly.

How are things in your neck of the woods?

I think it's amazing how you've involved the kids in this house-building adventure. That's just cool!

It must be so nice to get another job checked off the list. Yay for soffit and fascia, it looks SO good!!!

Looking good, Chris! I think I'd be a little scared to run the loader with someone in the bucket, too :)
